Lincoln School News for Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2019

LAPS FOR LINCOLN
As we enter our final week of Laps for Lincoln we want to thank you for all of your support!  Our goal is for 100% student participation.  Every donation counts no matter how large or small, so don't forget to send your child's envelope in Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week!  Also, please continue to share our online donation link and remember all donations, including online donations, are due Friday morning.


Due to EEE, our Laps for Lincoln celebration this Friday will be finished by 6:30.  We will have our tailgate from 5-6 with food available for purchase from Nosh Village,  Lark’s BBQ, Lake & Farmer, Mimi’s Cupcakes, & Icehouse Sno-Cone trucks.  At 6pm we will have a brief awards ceremony and then students will take one victory lap around the playground with their classmates.  We hope to see you there!  If you would like to help with the event on Friday please click the link below to check out volunteer opportunities:

Lory's Place & Changing Families Support
Lory’s Place Group is a grief support group that is offered for students have experienced the loss of a significant person or people in their lives. This group is co- facilitated with the school social worker and a staff member from Lory’s Place. Changing Families Group is a support group that is being offered for students who have experienced a change or transition in their family life.  This might include the experience of divorce/separation, change in caregiver(s), or any impactful shift within the family. Halloween - Thursday, October 31

All kids can dress up. Be mindful of costumes and especially those that require make-up. We are asking that kids are dressed up all day so simple is best. Children may want to go without the make-up or the bulky parts of their costumes for school. Young 5/Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades will have Maker Stations in the morning.  Parties will be at various times and will be scheduled by classroom teachers. All parents are welcome to attend the parade which will be (weather permitting) outside. The parade will begin at 3:20pm and parents may check their kids out with the classroom teacher after the parade.



LINCOLN SCHOOL MATH CENTER 2019-20
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Math Center is a one-a-week Math program that promotes fluency and proficiency for students in grades 1-5.
Math Center depends on parent volunteers to make this program successful. Volunteers go into the classrooms and administer timed tests to students at their individual level.

You do not need to be a “whiz” at math.  Tests are administered, then checked with provided answer keys.

Classroom visits begin at 8:40am and continue until around 11:00am.

Parent volunteers will have the opportunity to work their child’s classroom at some time during the morning.

Your participation in Math Center is much appreciated.

Volunteers must complete a volunteer consent form.  The form can be obtained in the school office or downloaded from the link below.  
Please turn the form into the office or scan it and email it to jwhite@sjschools.org. This form must be approved by our business office before you can volunteer.
