SJHS Veterans Breakfast RSVP 2021
You are invited to the 2021 St. Joseph High School Veterans Breakfast on Wednesday, November 10th beginning at 9am. The event will be held in the student center at the high school. The SJHS Student Senate members will prepare and serve a delicious breakfast. Following the breakfast, we will be entertained by speakers and performers as we take time to thank our Veterans for their service. Please plan to park in the Lakeview Ave. parking lot. Students will meet you in the parking lot and guide you to the event. Masks must be worn in the building unless you are seated and eating. If you have any questions, you can reach out to student senate advisor, Amanda Wallace, at 269-926-3367 or awallace@sjschools.org.

News from the Lunch Room

We would like to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE again this year to every St Joseph Public School student. Please try to remember to pre-order your student’s lunches when they are going to participate in lunch. This helps speed up the morning lunch count process. You will be allowed to order the Friday before the next week using www.sendmoneytoschool.com.

Due to the supply chain issues we are having with our vendors and food outages we will be providing a one week menu on our website and Principal blogs on the Friday before the next week. This will alleviate us having to make constant changes to a monthly menu and keep you better informed.

11/1/21 – Mini Corn Dogs, muffin, salad cup, fruit choice and milk.

11/2/21 – Pancakes, sausage, hash brown, fruit choice and milk

11/3/21 – Macaroni & Cheese, broccoli, bread stick, fruit choice and milk

11/4/21 – Hamburger, smile potatoes, baked beans, fruit choice and milk

Classroom Parties

We are looking forward to our first classroom celebration of the 2021-22 school year this week! Here are a few things we want to be sure to share with you:

  • Costumes can be worn all day (no gore or weapons). We ask that anything that may be distracting to the school environment be saved for home celebrations.
  • Students must wear masks along with their costume (not costume masks alone).
  • All party volunteers MUST have current background check on file - please be sure you have completed the paperwork found here.
  • We will have a costume parade outside @ 3:15 p.m. All families are welcome to come & take pictures - no background check is needed for the parade session only.

Our SJPS staff, as well as many community members, had the privilege of learning with Dr. Adolf Brown last Monday. This inspirational educator reminded us of the importance of sharing love, light, and insight each and everyday in our work alongside our students and their families. Click here to learn more about Dr. Brown and his mission to bring people together to learn, laugh and lead.

Lincoln School News for October 18-22, 2021

I'm Back!!!  Thank you to everyone who helped out in my absence.  Covid is behind me and I'm feeling great.  I never imagined that when I tested positive on September 30, that I would take so long to recover.  I was not great at staying on top of email or texts while I was sick, so please, if I have not responded to you about something, send me another message.

On another note, I am excited to say that this may be the last week of the Langley Avenue project.  I'll keep you posted on drop off and pick up changes as we move forward.

Again, thank you,

Craig H.

Picture Re-Takes

Next Friday, Oct. 22nd first thing in the morning in the gym.  If you would like your child's picture re-taken, please return the picture package on re-take day.  The same package will be ordered and delivered to the school once the re-takes are processed.  Please also send your child's teacher an email letting her know your child will be getting retakes so that she is aware when the parent helper comes to the classroom to take students to the gym.  Students do not always remember on their own.

Partnering with our students' families to ensure academic, social, and emotional growth is vital. Thank you for your commitment to meeting with your child's teacher to share successes and next steps. We value and appreciate you all.

Lory’s Place Peer Grief Support Group

We are so fortunate to have a resource like Lory’s Place here in our community!  Our Lincoln School community is fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Lory’s Place in order to provide a peer grief support group within the school setting.

Lory’s Place Group is a peer grief support group that is offered to our Lincoln School students who have experienced the loss of a significant person or people in their lives.  This group is co-facilitated by Miss Von Behren, our school social worker, and a staff member from Lory’s Place.  This group will meet once per month beginning in October and through the month of May for not any longer than one hour on Wednesdays.  Should you and your child feel that this would be beneficial, please feel free to reach out to Melaina Von Behren: (269-926-3421) or bmvonbehren@sjschools.org
