Lincoln School News for May 23-27, 2022

Dear 5th-grade Families,

Just a reminder: the 5th grade Ukulele Concert is June 1st at the High School Auditorium at 5:30 pm. You may start arriving at the auditorium as early as 5:10pm, but not earlier. Students will report to the front row of the auditorium to sit with their teacher until the show starts. Students are allowed to wear “Hawaiian or Beachy Clothing” to school for their day performance. Students are welcome to bring their personal ukulele to play at the show if they have one. 

The students can’t wait to show you all their hard work!

Michael Wagner's Bear Den

Also known as "The Bear Den"

Before COVID, Lincoln PTO and a few staff worked to create a therapeutic space with a variety of equipment that would provide students with personalized sensory input.  The goal was to help children calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others.  With many delays due to the pandemic, the space is now utilized on a daily basis for sensory diet, work completion, daily start up strategies and rewards for meeting individual goals.  Michael Wagner's family has worked diligently since 2017 to bring awareness to mental health and Social Emotional Learning.  Our hope is that this room offers additional support for Lincoln students in these areas.

This is just one of the ways that PTO has supported our efforts to meet the needs of all children.  Check out the before and after pictures to see how we turned a dingy basement storage room into a fun and exciting space.

                

It's that time of year! Mrs. Berry, Mrs. Bacolor and I are beginning to get all of the books back on our shelves for the summer. We are so proud of all of the awesome reading the kids have done this year! We hope you have enjoyed all of the books your child has brought home to read with you  You can help us out by finding any Lincoln School library books at home and sending them in with your child! If you do not know what books are checked out to your child, you can ask your child's teacher for a print out, or talk with Mrs. Gruchot in the library. Thanks a bunch! 

News from the Lunch Room

We would like to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE again this year to every St Joseph Public School student.   Please try to remember to preorder your student’s lunches when they are going to participate in lunch.  This helps speed up the morning lunch count process.  You will be allowed to order the Friday before the next week using www.sendmoneytoschool.com.  

Due to the supply chain issues we are having with our vendors and food outages we will be providing a one week menu on our website and Principal blogs on the Friday before the next week.   This will alleviate us having to make constant changes to a monthly menu and keep you better informed.
