Lincoln School News for January 15-19, 2018

Announcements

Did you Lose a Jewelry Charm at Lincoln?  A Boy Scout found a charm at Lincoln School at an evening meeting.  If you think it might be yours, please contact Marylin Bishop at m.bishop407@yahoo.com with a description.

Midyear NWEA Testing
In effort to monitor student growth and progress, all K-5 students will take the midyear NWEA reading and math tests beginning this week. Our testing window will be from January 22nd-February 1st. Teachers will use the data to design small group enrichment and intervention lessons for their students.

Kindness Week
The Great Kindness Challenge, celebrated January 22nd- 26th, provides us the opportunity to focus on spreading kindness to those around us.  We are looking forward to a week "bursting with kindness".  Please note that all of the activities below in the upcoming dates are optional, students are not required to participate.

Last Call for Girls on the Run Registration - Girls must be in 3rd-5th Grade
  • Girls must be able to commit to 2 days a week from 4-5:30pm. Either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
  • Practice begins the week of Feb. 26th. The race is on May 17th at the Berrien County Youth Fair Grounds
  • Want more information? You may email Mrs. Ettinger at aettinger@sjschools.org
  • I want to sign my daughter up! Click here: www.gotrswmi.org/our-programs

Winter Weather & Outdoor Play
Whenever possible we're outside for recess. Please be sure your child is prepared to make the most of playtime with friends by sending snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves/mittens to school each day.

Annual Gym & Swim
Once a year, the high school opens up its field house and swimming pool for elementary families to come and enjoy.  This is NOT a drop off activity, it is a time for the whole family to come and play frisbee, basketball, soccer, swim etc...  The date is Friday, January 19 and the time is from 6:00-8:00pm.

Weather Delays & Cancellations

In the event of inclement weather, notifications about school closures or delays will be sent via School Messenger and will be posted with local media outlets. Please be sure we have your most current contact information on file in the school office. All evening events are canceled if school is closed for the day.

Two hour delays are similar to late start days, except everything runs two hours late and there are no supervised activities for students before school.
