Lincoln School News for January 25-29, 2021

EVERYONE, PLEASE LOOK OVER THIS AND ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES FOR DROP OFF AND PICK UP.   THE FRONT, ORCHARD AVENUE, IS STARTING TO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE PARKING IN THE "NO PARKING' AREAS.   STUDENTS SHOULD CROSS THE STREET AT THE CROSSWALK.  SJ CITY PUBLIC SAFETY WILL BE MONITORING THE AREA.  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

SCHOOLSTORE.COM FUNDRAISER

Information about our Schoolstore.com fundraiser went home last week and the participation has been wonderful.  Our teachers have already earned over $10,000 in gift cards from parent donations, book/magazine orders through Family Book Store, and from purchases made from the over 400 vendors that donate a percentage of your sales back to the teachers/school.  The teachers will be able to use these gift cards at the CARING FOR CLASSROOMS website for classroom supplies and equipment.

We will continue to collect the envelopes over the next few weeks.  Extra ones are available in the office if you have misplaced yours.  You can also sign up at www.schoolstore.net and use the school ID 153736.  If you email the office the prize code, we will make sure your child gets the prize (jtrumbley@sjschools.org)

Please remember that this program is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL.  But, when you are shopping on-line please consider going to schoolstore.com and click “FIND YOUR SCHOOL” and find Lincoln School in Saint Joseph, MI.  From there you will find over 400 merchants like Walmart, Kohl’s, Best Buy and more.  When you chose your merchant a percentage of your sales will automatically be donated to Lincoln school at no cost to you.

Thank you for all your support for Lincoln School.  The teachers and staff appreciate you.

P2 - The Positivity Project

Our adoption of the Positivity Project (P2) has been nothing short of amazing! Our students and staff are engaging daily in powerful conversations related to character strengths. We are already noticing the powerful impact of the real life examples and common vocabulary used within the program. Ask your child about last week's character strength "perseverance".

We encourage your family to participate in using this shared language at home for maximum impact. Please access the P2 family site by clicking here to gain more information.  The password is "P2".

Valentine's Day at Lincoln School
February 14 is quickly approaching and of course, things this year will be a little different.  It just so happens that the 14th is on a Sunday this year and students do not have school on Friday the 12th or on Monday the 15th.  So, hold off on the candy and packaged Valentines, here is the plan...

During the week of February 8 - 11, our Positivity Project (P2) activities will be focused on "Love."  Love means that you value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships.

Classes will have activities and lessons in their morning meetings that will take the place of the traditional card exchange and parties.  No need to send anything in from home, we will handle it all in-house.

If you want to look ahead at family activities and connections for that week, remember you can access the P2 for Families at https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/  The password is P2.
