Lincoln News for May 4, 2020

Virtual Learning - Week 6

May 4, 2020 Virtual Learning Edition - Volume Five

May the 4th Be With You!
Here is the student news for today.

The first week of May is dedicated as Teacher Appreciation Week throughout the nation. Our SJPS teachers are so very special. They go above and beyond to love and support our children. This is more evident than ever during this time of remote connectivity. Please join me in thanking your child's teacher this week.

We'd also like to thank you - your child's first teacher. Thank you for all that you do to inspire growth, creativity, and perseverance. Together we make a great team! #BetterTogether

In the next few weeks, we hope to have some scheduled times when you can come to the school to collect leftover belongings and drop off things like library books etc...

E-Learning Updates
Great job to our elementary kids on their first week of remote learning! They ROCKED IT with 97% of the students logging in, getting work done and showing progress!

We adjusted our plan to share lessons and activities earlier on Mondays to best support our families. You will now receive information from your child's teacher first thing on Mondays. Thank you for your feedback and ongoing commitment to supporting learning from home.

Wi-Fi HotspotsWe are delighted to announce the district is strengthening our Wi-Fi and setting up Hotspots at all our campuses. Clarke, Brown, Lincoln, Upton, and the High School all have a designated hotspot for our families to use while in their vehicles.

Schools of Choice
Due to the current restrictions related to COVID-19, St. Joseph Public Schools is postponing the School of Choice application period originally scheduled for May 1-22. When some of the restrictions have lifted and people are able to enter our buildings, we will advertise the application window. In the meantime, please continue to check our website www.sjschools.org for updated information as we plan for the future.

Social and Emotional Support
Our social workers continue to offer support to our families during this time. Please check out the links below to see their message and great ideas. You can also email them at guidance@sjschools.org and visit our website sjschools.org for updated information, including this list of social/emotional resources.

In addition, our social workers are hosting a drop-in forum to support our families on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Please click on the link below to join.
