Back-to-School Ice Cream Social Events
The PTO invites you to attend our annual Ice Cream Social Events on Tuesday, August 27th for Young 5 and Kindergarten from 5:30-7:15p.m. and for Grades 1-5, Wednesday, August 28th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on our school playground. This is the perfect opportunity for students to visit with friends and meet new classmates. School staff members will be there to welcome you back as well. All Lincoln School families are encouraged to attend.

Attention New Families
All enrollment/registration materials need to be complete before the school year begins. If you still need to bring in your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, physical, hearing/vision tests, or your proof of residency, please do so as soon as possible. You can bring them with you to turn in at Ice Cream Social or drop them off at the office anytime before then.

Lincoln School Family News!
Please join me in welcoming Miss Elizabeth Reimers to our team of 3rd grade teachers and Mrs. Andrea Confer to our Kindergarten team! We are excited to have them both. In addition, we congratulate Mrs. Christine Starks and Mrs. Brooke Schermerhorn on their summer marriages (previously Ms. Borah and Miss Rajewski) and we also welcome 3 new little bears to our family! Mrs. Richards and her husband had a baby girl in April, Mrs. Ettinger and her husband had a baby boy in May, and at the end of July, Mrs. Jun and her husband had a baby boy!

Now for the Nitty Gritty
Most of the sheets included in your mailing will be self-explanatory, but I do want to draw your attention to a few.
1)   The Application for Ridership only needs to be filled out if you are using bus transportation to and/or from school.  This form is not necessary for field trips.
2)   There is a half sheet that indicates transportation instructions for your child.  We use this as our main source of information when directing children at the end of the day.  Please complete it and turn it in at Ice Cream Social or in the school office before the start of school.
3)   Our PTO provides many wonderful experiences for our students.  Please review the information they have included and find some time to volunteer!

Instructions for Drop Off and Pick Up 2018-2019
First, I want to encourage everyone to either walk or ride the bus! The less car traffic we have around the school at drop off and pick up the better. If you are considering riding the bus, please do so from the very first day of school. Routes will run long the first few days, but once everyone has met the drivers and taken their "First Days of School" pictures things will run very smoothly.

If you choose to drive, do NOT leave your car parked in the roadway and please do NOT block the driveway of any of our Lincoln School neighbors! If you must leave your car to pick up your child, you must be parked in an appropriately marked parking space. These spaces are limited around our neighborhood school. You can find parking along Morton Avenue, by the church, or on Orchard Avenue to the west of Sunset. Slant parking on the south end of the building is sometimes available, but if you park there, be prepared to wait to leave as traffic flow will be heavy. Walking to and from school and riding the bus are the 2 best options! Please refer to the diagram and watch the video for more detailed information.


Remember, you're your child's first role model!  They see and hear what you do and say.  Be kind and courteous to others.  Although you might only be concerned about your own child, we're concerned about all 430+ of our students and their safety! 

Students eating breakfast at Lincoln may be dropped off at the front entrance beginning at 8:00 a.m. NO earlier please!  There is no supervision of students prior to 8:00 a.m.

Students NOT eating breakfast may be dropped off, to report to the playground or their entrance door, NO earlier than 8:10 a.m.

There is NO playground supervision before 8:15 a.m.

ALL students are to be picked up from school and the playground NO later than 4:00 p.m. Any students remaining on school grounds after 4:00 p.m. must be accompanied by a parent, or must be registered for, or involved in an adult supervised activity.  There is no supervision on the playground after 4:00 p.m.

National School Breakfast and Lunch Program

Breakfast 
Breakfast will be offered daily from 8:00-8:25 a.m. in the cafeteria. Meal prices are $2.00 for elementary students and $2.50 for adults. Menus are available online.
Lunch
Student lunches are $2.50 for elementary and $3.85 for adults per day. This includes the entrée (or alternate choice), vegetable, fruit, bread, and milk. Additional milk may be purchased for 60 cents. Students need to bring lunch money with them on the first day of school unless they have funds left from last year. Any food service debts from last year should be settled. Visit www.sendmoneytoschool.com to pay or sign up just to look at your student’s balance. You may pay online with a credit/debit card, there is a $1.75 processing fee to pay online.
Free/Reduced Meals
Applications for free and reduced price breakfast/lunch were included with your child's welcome back mailing or can be filled out online at www.lunchapp.com (one application per household). Breakfast/Lunchmust be purchased until applications have been received and qualification has been determined. Families will be notified when their application has been processed. If there are any questions regarding your application or if assistance is needed filling out the form, please call Demrhy Youngquist at 926-3127.

The first day is always exciting, 
but it can be a little scary too.

Supply Lists

St. Joseph Public Schools provides all necessary supplies, but if you would like to provide additional supplies here are some suggested items for each grade level.

It is helpful if students have a backpack, a refillable water bottle, and a pair of shoes for gym that can stay at school (optional). If students do not come with these items, we will make sure they have them.

1 box each - Quart, Sandwich, 1 Gallon and 2 Gallon Ziploc Bags
1 box - small paper cups 5oz.
1 large package - napkins
