Lincoln School News for March 26-30, 2018

Announcements

Friday, March 30th is a half day for students!  Please help us meet our attendance required to count this day by sending your child to school if at all possible.  Spring break begins at the end of the day (12:05 dismissal). Thank you!

Lexia Core 5 at Home We’ve been using Lexia at school for about six weeks now and are seeing big improvements in students’ reading skills!  You can help your child meet his/her minute goal each week by logging in at home (see directions below). However, we ask that you encourage your child to use headphones, work in a quiet place,  and stay focused during the work session. Most importantly, we ask that (aside from logging in) you do not give your child any help with the program.

Lexia Home Login Instructions
To use on a computer, go to the school Symbaloo and click on Clever.  Or you can go directly to the SJPS Clever login page, log in as your child, and select Core5-Lexia.  Be sure to enable Flash in your web browser.
On an iPad, iPad mini tablet, download the free Clever App and Lexia Reading Core 5apps from itunes. The app will not work on other devices, including Kindle, Android, or iPhone at this time.  Log in to Clever on the device, and launch Lexia Core5 from there.
The  download links for can all be found here.
Just remember we use Clever to authenticate your child's account so log in through there first.

HeathWorks for 4th and 5th Graders:
The St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education has established a program of instruction, which includes HIV/AIDS and other serious communicable disease prevention education and sexuality education.  An outline for the units of study to be used in 4th & 5th grades will be available for your review at the Parent Informational Meeting mentioned below and may also be checked out from our building office as well.
According to Michigan Law, you have the right to review the materials and curriculum content to be used in the family life and reproductive health curriculum which includes serious communicable diseases such as HIV.  The local board of education, in compliance with the statute, has made the materials and curriculum guides available for your review. If you wish to review the materials or curriculum content, please attend the scheduled Parent Informational Meeting on Wednesday, April 11th  at E.P. Clarke Elementary School from 6:15-7:15 pm in the Media Center.
4th Grade is scheduled for their HealthWorks presentation on April 13.
5th Grade travels to HealthWorks for their presentation on May 18th.
