For those returning or starting at Lincoln School, we are delighted to welcome you to face-to-face instruction beginning on Monday, November 23rd. We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with your family.  Below is important information that will help to ensure a smooth transition into the school setting.

Our drop off and pick up routine is a bit different this year. Please look at the attached maps for guidance. Please note that our start time is 8:45 a.m. on typical school days and 9:45 a.m. on late start Wednesdays. Due to safety protocols, we are not able to offer before school supervision this year. In addition, students are not able to stage on the playground before school as in years past. When the school doors open at 8:45 a.m. (9:45 a.m. on late start days), your child will enter through their specified door (see diagram) and will go right to their classroom. If your child will be riding the bus at all this year, please call our transportation department at (269) 926-3900 to make arrangements.

Masks must be worn throughout the school setting, with the exception of eating time or during a masking break when distanced from others. Please be sure to screen your child's health prior to attending school everyday using the guide linked here. Your assistance with this is vital to us staying together safely.

Again, welcome back to Lincoln School. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Lincoln School News for November 16-20, 2020

News for the Week of November 16, 2020

You may have just listened to the press conference this evening.  If so, you know that Covid cases continue to rise here in Berrien County and across the nation.  As of right now, we have had no cases at Lincoln that have resulted from spread within our school.  Please talk to your kids about the importance of masks and other safety protocols.
Here is a good visual related to the press conference.

Our student devices have arrived! We are so thankful for our SJPS Foundation for their support of our 1:1 initiative. We will share additional details regarding home use soon - stay tuned!

Stuff a Truck Food Drive

November 16 - 20, 2020

Lincoln School is proud to give back to the larger Berrien County community by collecting non-perishable (canned goods, boxed dinner/pasta) food items November 16-20. If you are able, simply pick up an item (or more) at the grocery store, and send it to school with your student to be donated. There will be a donation in the Lincoln School vestibule if SJVS students would also like to donate. We collect now because there is a greater need for food around the holidays. Thanks for spreading kindness and positivity!

This event is sponsored by 97.5 Y Country and Rogers. Items are donated to the Southwest Michigan Action Agency.

We’re happy to partner with the City of St. Joseph to get feedback about their Parks and Recreation system. Please click here to take the survey before November 22nd. Thank you for your important feedback!

We may not be able to provide our students with the same experience that they have had in years past by providing a Lory’s Place group within the school, but there are some exciting opportunities happening for our students and families who would benefit from support through Lory’s Place!

The purpose of Lory’s Place is to provide grief support services for grieving children, adults and families.  Typically they partner with our schools to provide group grief support, but this will look a little different this year.  If you have a student who has experienced the loss of a loved one(s) and needs some support working through her/his grief, please contact our school social workers, Bri Van Hekken (bvanhekken@sjschools.org or Colette Jasiak cjasiak@sjschools.org for more information or feel free to reach out to Lory’s Place (269-983-2707) to learn about opportunities for support.

Learn all about Lory's Place here.

Lincoln School News 11.11.20

Today has been a special day!  It's Veteran's Day, a day when we show appreciation for all those who have served in our armed forces.  And, to add to the thankful spirit, we enjoyed our Thanksgiving Lunch.

These are interesting, difficult, challenging times, but please take time to look for the silver linings and be thankful for all that we have.

Please share this graphic with your child and reiterate the importance of wearing masks from the top of his/her nose to beneath the chin. Thank you!

In addition, thank you for your continued commitment to attending to our daily health screening linked here. If your child is exhibiting symptoms, it is imperative that you keep him/her home until healthy. Thank you for your support with this.

We are delighted to announce that our SJPS elementary schools are beginning a new journey as Positivity Project (or P2) partner schools thanks to the generosity of our St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation. This amazing character-building program will be infused on our daily class meetings and will be supported district-wide throughout the school year. All classrooms will begin our implementation November 23rd with the character strength "gratitude". Click here to learn more about this powerful program on P2's family site.
